14-19 Age Group Sector
Major work using XCRI-CAP in the 14-19 Age Group sector has been undertaken since 2008. The work has been concentrated on collecting course advertising data from learning providers for use in 14-19 Area Prospectus services. Government commitment has been demonstrated by the specific inclusion of XCRI-CAP as the recommended format for the collection of 14-19 Area Prospectus courses information in the Action Plan for the 14–19 Prospectus and Common Application Process.
While there has been action in relation to XCRI-CAP in several areas of the country, the greatest amount has taken place in the East Midlands region. Several projects and ongoing work within learning provider organisations, lifelong learning networks, and at the University of Nottingham's Centre for International ePortfolio Development (CIePD) has demonstrated and piloted the use of XCRI-CAP within the region to faciliate the movement and aggregation of courses data from learning providers, area prospectuses and a regional progression system. The 'regional ecosystem' is emerging as a live network based on interoperability standards and the commitment of a wide range of organisations. Further information is available in the XCRI 14-19 section of the CIePD's website.
