West Yorkshire Lifelong Learning Network based at the University of Huddersfield have supported the implementation of XCRi and acquisition of knowledge and understanding throughout West Yorkshire. Whilst many institutions are exploring the use of XCRi for their validated provision, typically, non-validated provision including short courses and CPD offerings are not included in this current activity, additionally many commercial training providers offering provision to support higher level skills development feel excluded from this mainstream support activity.
The main aim of this study was to actively engage organisations providing work based learning and CPD (HEIs, FECs and commercial training providers) encouraging them to present their CPD course offerings in an XCRi format. This was then aggregated and presented to data aggregators such as Yorkshire Forward and the Yorkshire & Humber Skills Brokerage Platform. Within the study we also developed innovative aggregator solutions based on XCRI to demonstrate how XCRI files can be used by third parties.
