A Guide to Implementation: Getting Started
This guide, the XCRI-CAP Self-assessment Framework and selected resources in the XCRI Knowledge Base form part of a package of support to institutions seeking to implement XCRI-CAP. For technical staff involved in the JISC Course Data Programme, the relevant XCRI version is XCRI-CAP 1.2.

Introducing XCRI-CAP - the XCRI Knowledge Base
There is a wealth of information available on the XCRI Knowledge Base aimed at staff in non-technical, technical and strategic roles. You can find information about planning and processes and technical implementation, as well as a range of case studies from institutions that have already worked with XCRI-CAP. There is also a generic presentation introducing XCRI-CAP.
Planning your implementation
Institutions that have implemented XCRI-CAP over the last few years have ranged from those applying an external feed to their course marketing system to those who have implemented, or are implementing, a more thorough change to how their systems interact within the institution, perhaps as a part of an overarching Service Oriented Approach. A flexible six-step implementation process was developed by the Centre for International e-Portfolio Development (CIePD), as a result of the East Midlands Lifelong Learning Network XCRI projects, and this guide is a version of that pattern modified by further review in 2011.
