West Yorkshire Lifelong Learning Network
The West Yorkshire Lifelong Learning Network is a partnership between Higher Education, Further Education institutions and other organisations across the region, committed to providing quality vocational progression for learners to progress into higher education. The partnership works to create and promote learning opportunities, particularly ones where there is an employer demand for the skills it will provide.
An integral part of the WYLLN activity is assisting institutions in promoting their courses. As a consequence of this remit, the Information Advice and Guidance Manager of WYLLN became actively involved with the promotion and implementation of XCRI-CAP among educational and business partners.
Over a period of two years there has been a significant level of activity by WYLLN including:
Institutional XCRI-CAP readiness assessments
Regional seminars attracting over 150 individuals
Implementation of XCRI-CAP at 3 HEIs
Awareness raising activity within 18 HEIs/FECs
Technical and project management support
Contribution to the development of national resources
2 successful JISC bids supporting XCRI-CAP activity
Raising awareness among local data aggregators
Development of a prototype XCRI-CAP Content Management System and course search facility
The following case studies provide an insight into two typical HEIs, and the difference that the support provided by WYLLN made in their XCRI implementation projects.
